the BRUTAL, UGLY truth of my FABULOUS, BEAUTIFUL life.

2:25 p.m. + 2003-11-14 = ranting.

i'm just reading about how Peter Krause (visiting his alma mater Gustavus this last week) received an "F" in Religion in America course during his undergrad and was a Kappa for a year. Additionally, though not an offical theatre major, his track record would suggest that he was indeed, "theatre kid."

I so would have been too cool for mr. emmy-nominee-for-lead-actor-in-SixFeetUnder had I been at gustavus at the same time. Plus he's from Alexandria which only serves to prove that his is my inferior.

also in the Weekly this week:

1. friend slippert's story of how she met her now-fianc online (something i did not know), she already told me that there is considerable journalistic license (meaning: misquotes, unfair usage of and insipid writing style) in the article. I would hope so. As it reads, slippert seems like a raving advokat for the cause of meeting people online. (when in reality, it only works for her and myself and our respective (not to "other" you, but...) others.

2. Sophomore (I would call him rightwing, but he's just not smart enough for that, so i'll say...) Fox-News-watching columnist's essay entitled, "The European Union's disconnect with reality." bad title. bad article. lots of things a rednecked, shoot-on-sight, red-white&blue-fetishizing type would write. And after making proposterous overgeneralization and sweeping remarks, he uses my pride and joy to "drive home" his point. AND I QUOTE!... "it is hardly a shock that Sweden so loudly rejected the Euro in the face of this type of sham." (sham=the political structure/climate of EU). I don't really care to contest him, but I just want to set his warped Alan Jackson record straight... the population got to vote on the Euro matter. the question was: adopt the Euro as Sweden's Currency? Ja eller Nej. the Ja's pulled in 42.1 percent. the Nej's 56.1 percent. (where the missing percentages are, i've no idea.) this is hardly a loud rejection. furthermore, statistically, nationalists and conservatives have better turn out in mere referendum votes. AND, Anna Lindh had only been MURDERED a week prior by (now this may sound a little conspiracy theorist of me) the Nej's.

I'm sure Weekly columnist, an underage drunkard, would also find Sweden disheartening to his cause in learning that alcohol is taxed 48% and the state has a monopoly on liquor stores. or that Sweden sides with Palestine more often than Israel. (the majority of his infuriating, yet laughable article stems from his anger that recent European Union Survey says that 59% of those surveyed indentify Israel as a huge threat to world peace. (what!? only 59%)). hmmm, i've just thought of something else... the survey asked individuals to name a COUNTRY, in which case how could Palestine be given as an answer as it is, indeed, not a country.

blah. sorry for the rant. i choose to write it here instead of in letter-to-the-editor, as i do not feel like doing the research to cover my tracks and uphold my (undeniably correct) opinion. though, not covering one's ass seems to work for these conservative, backwater columnists (and i count 6 blatant typos in almost every column of theirs).
