the flags outfront of the student centre are at half-mast again. Paul Granland died yesterday. to give those without the faintest idea of who this man was: startribune.com/stories/466/4102079.html, and in addition, i just want to say that the bust of linn�s (Lineaus) in his botanical garden in Uppsala, Sweden...my favourite bronze bust ever...was given to the city by gustavus adolphus and their artist-in-residence at the time, Paul Granlund. He died of respitory complications caused by years of breathing in dust from bronze-sculpting. his art killed him, in otherwords. a fantastic, noble way to go i must say (but NOT comparable to daredevils who die in tragic daredevilish accidents, but that's my elitist-ness talking.)
september thus far has been marked by death of important swedish/swedo-american figures. and we sit and argue in my social inequality class whether or not j-lo is upper class or upper middle class... i vote for the latter, the fact that her butt is insured is but a red herring.... i mean c'mon... if she's adement about her still-from-the-block status, we shouldn't assume her many bentleys guarauntees her upper class status.
