the BRUTAL, UGLY truth of my FABULOUS, BEAUTIFUL life.

8:11 p.m. + 2004-03-17 = i think i said, "dream job" too many times, but i wasn't being facitious, nor sycophantic!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and now the tedious waiting game begins.

for those that do not know, i have applied for a fulltime baker position at the Wedge Co-op in Minneapolis. It is my favourite co-op in the world [and i know co-ops]. The job was posted on saturday. I came across it on sunday. preceded to run up to campus, print off an application, fill it out and sleep little due to the excitement. on monday, I drive up to mpls, turn in the application and wait for newfriend scott to get off work so that i can celebrate with someone at Pepito's [on chicago&48th... GOOD FOOD!]. I get a call on tuesday from the Wedge; we set up an interview time for wednesday [today]. i sleep little due to excitement and the effects of intermingling with caffeine inbetween pints of schell's maifest at trivia. I race to mpls today and make it there in record time (thank god, i was running uberlate.) the first interview goes smashingly, me thinks. the second interview was with the deli manager and this didn't go over quite so great. I worry that i may have left the impression that i'm a rogue baker. I mean, everything i do at the st. peter co-op is left up to me. I am my own authority. The Wedge has more employees in it's deli department than st. peter co-op has in it's entire store. I'd be one of 6 fulltime bakers working under 2 co-headbakers and 1 outstanding pastry chef.

the good news is that inbetween interviews I glanced over at the post-it note affixed to my application. [I am alone in the room]. The note says, in big loopy cursive, "This one looks REALLY good!" with a few random "Yeah!"-s written in a collage of fonts beneath. also, there are actually 2 baking job openings. ...and 5 applicants being interviewed. ...all of us today.

They said they'd call tonight or tomorrow with my status.

And now, i wait...

...and wait...

...and wait.
